Chelsea are ready to offer their new number-one, Thibaut Courtois, a new bumper contract, which could see his weekly-wage trebled.

The Blues shot-stopper won the race with Petr Cech for the number-one jersey after impressing during their pre-season and also enjoying a very successful three years in Spain with Atletico Madrid.

The 22-year-old was on the brink of a permanent Stamford Bridge exit, but Jose Mourinho gave him a massive boost by giving him the starting spot in the Premier League opener against Burnley, and he has stayed in between the posts since then.

Courtois currently has two years left on his existing contract, which is reportedly worth £30k-a-week.

However, Chelsea want to offer him a long-term deal and are considering trebling his wages to around £90k-a-week.
