Blues expected to finalise £22million deal

Chelsea are expected to finalise a deal for FC Barcelona winger Pedro next week after agreeing to activate his release clause.

The Spaniard has struggled to break into Luis Enrique‘s first-team at the Nou Camp, due to Neymar and Lionel Messi being deployed on each wing.

New Contract

However, that didn’t stop the winger from signing a new four-year deal earlier in the summer. But, whilst signing that new deal, his release clause went down from £107million, to just £22m.

The 27-year-old has admitted his future is delicate right now, especially after Barca agreed to sign Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid once their embargo is lifted in the new year.

Chelsea and Rivals Interest

According to reports in England, Chelsea will wrap up a deal for Pedro sometime next week after they agreed to meet his release clause.

Jose Mourinho has been in the market for a new winger, which could see Mohamed Salah or Juan Cuadrado leave Stamford Bridge permanently.

Pedro was a target of Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool, but it looks like The Blues of West London have won the race to land the Spanish international.

Fabregas Influence

It’s reported that Chelsea have offered the winger a four-year deal and he’s ready to accept the move after talking to former team-mate Cesc Fabregas about what it’s like at The Bridge.

Pedro informed Fabregas that the language barrier is a worry for him, but the former-Barca star admitted that there is nothing to worry about due to the strong Spanish contingency at the club.
