The Blues have been keeping a close eye on the defender

Chelsea are set to make a move for Simon Kjaer this summer, according to reports.

The Fenerbache star has been on the Blues radar for quite some time and incoming boss Antonio Conte is keen to wrap up a deal for the centre-back.

The Turkish side were unwilling to let him leave but they may be forced to, after they were handed a fine for breaking FFP rules. They were also told they could only register 22 players for European competitions next year and they will also likely be handed a ban on transfer dealings.

It means that, despite wanting to keep hold of one of their star players, Fenerbache could be forced to let him leave this summer and Chelsea will be more than willing to take him off their hands.

Fenerbache want around £15m

The Turkish club would want at least £15m for Kjaer, a fee that could easily be paid by the Stamford Bridge side.

It would be a huge boost to the Blues in their bid to overhaul the current squad this summer in a bid to get the side back up at the top of the table and challenging for the title again.

Kjaer would massively help a defence that has been identified as one of the week areas by Conte. He has been extremely impressive in Turkey and before that he also well at French side Lille. In addition, he is a valuable member of the Denmark national team.
