Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho believes there is a large amount of pressure on Manchester City to clinch the title, although they are not favourites at the moment. He added that Manchetser United and Tottenham cannot afford to keep slipping up, but also feels they are not yet out of contention and Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are also in the title race.

“I don’t think we can speak about favourites but we can say that one team is top of the league and some are a little bit far (behind) but I keep thinking that all the six teams are title contenders,” he said.

“I keep saying the team with more responsibilities to win it, because their squad is quite unique.”

Chelsea suffered an injury blow to left-back Ashley Cole and have used Cesar Azpilicueta as a replacement, and Mourinho inists he cannot see himslef signing a new left-back in the January transfer window and says Cole will juts have to be patient to regain his place in the starting 11.

“Any player that normally starts matches, and Ashley starts matches, for all his career, when they don’t I think they are naturally not the happiest guy in the camp,” he added.

“Professionally, he is always a team player, yes, friend of his friends, yes. So I also can say that he deserves to play.”

With this being one of the few injury problems in Chelsea’s team, they are still considered a major candidate to clinch the Premier League title.
