Pellegrini ready to fight off the competition around Europe

According to reports in Germany, Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is prepared to break a transfer record for Schalke starlet Leroy Sane.

It is believed that they have already lodged a huge bid of £40.7 million for the 19-year old, as they look to snap him in in the current transfer window.

However, the German publication Bild insists that City will up their bid to around €55 million if their original offer fails.

If Sane moves to the Etihad Stadium for such a price, City would break the record transfer fee paid for a German player.

This record is currently held by their fellow Premier League side Arsenal, who paid approximately €50 million for Mesut Ozil back in 2013.
