Fulham manager, Claudio Ranieri believes Timothy Fosu-Mensah’s season-long loan could be cut short by Manchester United this January for a lack of playing time.

The Italian boss said, “I don’t know, if United want him, he can go because with me he does not play often and I understand he is young he needs to play. This moment for me is very, very important to achieve our goal. Our goal now is to save Fulham.”

The Cottagers are struggling to put up points since gaining promotion from the Championship and is currently in the 19th spot of the Premier League. Ranieri’s primary concern is that of saving the club from relegation rather than developing young players.

Fulham have spent over £100m in the summer transfer window but have been met with disappointments against top-flight opponents. They were dealt a 4-1 beating by Arsenal in their last Premier League fixture.

Fosu-Mensah did get 34 minutes against the Gunners after not even getting included in the club’s last 8 league games. He spent the previous season on loan with Crystal Palace and featured in 21 league games.

With the United’s defence still pulled into question, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could recall the Netherlands international back into the side. The 21-year-old is versatile in the back four with 3 caps to his name for Holland.
