The Bundesliga club currently have the services of Christensen on loan from Chelsea, in his second year of a two year deal, and many feel that the 20-year-old will be a big part of Chelsea’s future defensive line.
The Danish center half has impressed fans in Germany, leading Monchengladbach fans to hope for a permanent deal once the loan deal ends – and there were rumours of this being a possibility.
This possibility seems dead in the water now though, as sporting director Max Eberl said:
“He must go back to Chelsea.
“Those are the two players [Dahoud and Christensen] that we have to replace in the summer.
“There are no others.
“And we don’t want any others [to leave us].”
This news will please Chelsea fans who are familiar with Christensen, as he looks to have a very bright future ahead of him.
Many see the talented Danish international as a future partner with Kurt Zouma at the back for Chelsea, which now looks more likely as Christensen appears to be on his way back to Stamford Bridge.
