Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lewis Holtby has officially moved to German side Hamburg on loan- with the option to buy next summer.

It emerged this morning that the move was close, and Holtby has spent most of the day in Hamburg having a medical. He signed for Spurs in January 2013 but never managed to fix himself a place in the Starting XI. A six-month loan at Fulham was unsuccessful last season, with manager Felix Magarth criticising the player’s attitude.

Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival as Spurs head coach offered renewed hope for the midfielder but despite a promising pre-season campaign, Holtby has not started any of Tottenham’s three Premier League matches so far.
