The striker is out of favour in Brazil

According to reports, Corinthians are looking to persuade Chelsea into taking Alexandre Pato to Stamford Bridge in the current transfer window.

The former AC Milan star has been told he has no future at the Brazilian giants, and he has been left out of their squad that has travelled to the USA for a pre-season tour.

It is believed that Corinthians are trying to convince Guus Hiddink and co. that the 26-year old is the answer to the Blues’ injury problems, as Diego Costa is Chelsea’s only fit centre forward at this present moment.

However, rumours suggest that Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann is the number one target for Hiddink, but Atleti’s recent transfer ban has put a spanner in the works for any potential deal.

Price tag

Corinthians have insisted that Pato is valued at around £11 million, but clubs who are targeting him may look to swoop in with a lower offer.

He has been linked with other Premier League clubs in previous times, including Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
