Darren Fletcher, 28, is back in the Manchester United squad for the first time since last November. The Scottish international had been sidelined for 10 months after suffering from a chronic bowel condition, but he is back in the squad to face Wigan at the weekend.

In November 2011, it was reported that Darren Fletcher was seriously ill and at first it was feared that he would never play football again, however in the last couple of weeks he has made it through a couple of reserves games and Sir Alex Ferguson has given him a big boost by putting him in the squad to face Wigan on Saturday.

“Darren Fletcher is in the squad, to give him a boost,” said Ferguson. “At this moment in time everything looks fine.”

Today it was also reported that Robin Van Persie and Shinji Kagawa are both fit for the game as well after fears that both would miss out because of injuries they picked up during the international break.
