Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea will be earning almost £10million-a-year after putting pen to paper on a new four-year deal.
The Spaniard was widely expected to leave Old Trafford with a move to Real Madrid on the brink of being finalised before it collapsed on Transfer Deadline Day.
After both clubs blamed each other for the collapse, it left De Gea at United and gave Louis van Gaal a selection headache regarding his number-one goalkeeper.
However, in the week it was announced that De Gea had agreed a new four-year contract with United, ending all speculation surrounding his future.
The new contract will see the goalkeeper earn around £40million, equating to £10m-a-year, and it ensures the Premier League side won’t lose him on a free next summer.
De Gea returned to action for United yesterday as they beat fierce rivals Liverpool 3-1 at home.
