Wolfsburg’s sporting director, Klaus Allhofs, does not believe that Kevin De Bruyne will see out his contract at the club.
The Belgian is a transfer target for Man City and they are desperate to sign him this summer. The player himself has refused to commit to a new deal and now the club’s sporting director doesn’t believe he will be staying at the club.
The 24-year old’s current deal runs until 2019 but Allhofs doesn’t think he’ll still be at Wolfsburg when that time comes around. He said: “If the contract would run only until 2017 – then it would be decisive.
“But we are honest: it is rather unlikely that he will stay with us until 2019. So the length of the deal does not play any major role.
“Of course I hope that we develop internationally so that elsewhere there are not many better opportunities for a player to improve.”
