Ivorian given job to persuade Belgian to snub Real Madrid

Didier Drogba will have to convince Eden Hazard to stay at Stamford Bridge should he take a job on the coaching staff, according to reports.

The Belgian has been strongly linked with a summer switch to Real Madrid, and reports emerged yesterday claiming the midfielder has already told friends he’s leaving Chelsea at the end of the season.

Hazard has been out-of-form so far this campaign, but with Jose Mourinho losing his job and Guus Hiddink taking over, it was thought the 25-year-old would re-find his form.

However in the few games Hiddink has been in charge of, nothing has changed for the Belgian international.

Drogba to persuade Hazard

With his heart set on a move to the Bernabeu, Chelsea officials may struggle to keep hold of him for much longer, but should Drogba arrive as a coach, things could change.

It was Drogba who urged Hazard to join Chelsea in the first place as he made a personal phone-call to the then-Lille player advising him to snub moves elsewhere in order to choose Stamford Bridge.

Should Hiddink appoint Drogba as a coach, he will set him the task of persuading Hazard to stay put in West London.

Drogba and Hazard have a close relationship on-and-off the field, and Chelsea officials believe he could be key in keeping Hazard at the club.
