Aston Villa Football Club have signed defender Joleon Lescott on a two-year contract

The England international has moved West Bromwich Albion for a rumoured fee potentially rising up to £2million.

Lescott, who is a Villa fan, becomes the eleventh signing to walk through the door at Villa Park this summer.

He has plenty of experience in the Premier League having previously played for the likes of Manchester City and Everton.

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood says Lescott will be a valuable member of the team and is happy to have signed the centre-back.

“I’m delighted to bring Joleon on board. He’s a player who has great Premier League experience and he’ll be a huge help to the younger members of our squad” said Sherwood.

West Brom sign Evans

As Lescott exited the club, Baggies manager Tony Pulis acted swiftly to bring in a replacement, signing Jonny Evans from Manchester United.

The Northern Ireland international, who was also being linked with Everton, has joined West Brom on a four-year deal for a reported fee of around £6million, plus £2million in add-ons.

Evans will be the third ex-United player at the Hawthorns following former team-mate Darren Fletcher’s departure from Old Trafford in January.

Goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has also followed in Evans’ footsteps by joining on a free transfer, with the Denmark international penning a two-year deal.
