Manchester United defender, Phil Jones, has suffered another injury setback and will now be facing up to another two months out after having surgery on his knee, the club has announced.

The statement says: “Phil Jones has had surgery on a knee meniscus tear sustained in training,” said a United spokesman.

“It will require six to eight weeks of rehabilitation.”

The young defender is yet to make an appearance for the Manchester club this season after a back injury kept him out of pre-season. His last competitive game was away at Sunderland on the last game of the season.

He is likely to miss about six premiership games and about three champions league matches.
