Tom Saintfiet likens striker to a ‘bad date’

Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor won’t play for Togo again whilst Tom Saintfiet is in charge.

The manager has likened the Spurs man to a bad date by confirming he has shown no interest in playing for his country and therefore he won’t be picked.

The 31-year-old hasn’t represented neither club or country in recent months due to being out of favour in both camps, and Saintfiet has now confirmed that Adebayor didn’t return any texts or emails regarding an international call-up.

The striker was being called up for an African Cup qualifier against Djibouti on 4 September, but he didn’t return any calls or emails and the manager chose to call-up someone else.

Togo Manager Unimpressed

Saintfiet said: “If you are dating a woman who does not want to respond positively, then you must look for another woman.

“For me, it is clear that he is a player who does not want to play for his country anymore.”
