Juventus player Emre Can gave his opinion about Cristiano Ronaldo’s red card in Juventus’ Champions League opener against Valencia yesterday. Can thought that it wasn’t a red card.

Ronaldo had a tussle with Valencia’s Jeison Murillo. After Murillo fell down, Ronaldo touched his hair. Match official Felix Brych consulted his assistant about the incident. After discussing the incident, Brych showed a straight red to Ronaldo who walked off the field in tears.

An European TV station showed Ronaldo a footage of the entire incident. Can replied, “That’s supposed to be a red? I just heard that he said it was because of hair pulling. We’re not women, we’re playing football. If you’re giving that as a red card, you can be sent off for any foul. One hundred per cent, that is not a red card.”

10-man Juventus eventually won the match 2-0 thanks to a brace of penalties by Miralem Pjanic. We still do not know the kind of ban Ronaldo will receive.

UEFA will take a decision next week after reading the referee’s report. If Ronaldo receives a three-match ban, then he will miss out on Juventus’ trip to Old Trafford.
