Premier League champions Chelsea are targeting a double January deal for in-form Leicester striker Jamie Vardy and Tottenham midfielder Moussa Dembele.
England star Vardy, looking to set a Premier League record of scoring in eleven straight games against Manchester United tomorrow, has been one of the stars of the season so far without doubt.
The high-flying Foxes know they face a fight to hang on to Vardy, who just a couple of years ago was playing in non-league with Stocksbridge Park Steels.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho may well be looking for competition, or even a replacement, for out-of-sorts Diego Costa, a shadow of the forward who helped Chelsea win the title last term.
Spurs midfielder Dembele, whose contract is up in 18 months, may be targeted as a replacement for Cesc Fabregas or Nemanja Matic, two other players who have struggled to replicate the form of last season.
The total cost for the pair may come to £40m, but could be money well spent if it guides the Blues back up the table.
