Aguero Suffers Hamstring Injury At West Ham
Sergio Aguero was called off the pitch as he got injured again during the West Ham clash.
Aguera had just returned from a previous injury for the West Ham 1-1 draw but was made to leave the pitch over a suspected hamstring injury. He was previously injured with a knee problem which he had suffered during the Arsenal clash.
Phil Foden served as Aguero’s replacement for the remainder of the match – and Pep Guardiola was rather pleased with the switch.
Guardiola said about Phil Foden: “As always, he gave us something extra.”
The City manager felt his team “didn’t play badly except the last 10 minutes of the first half,” adding: “In the second half they defended so deep, and then we had chances at the end to score and we could not convert.”
Foden said Guardiola had told him to “try to be lively, come on and make a difference”, and he said: “I tried to do that.
“Obviously I got the goal, and it’s unfortunate we couldn’t get the second. On another day Raz [Raheem Sterling] and Riyad [Mahrez] finish their chances.
“I always like to arrive in the box and I enjoy scoring goals, so I’m going to try to continue that form.”
When asked how it was like to return to football after several weeks, Foden responded: “Yeah, definitely. It’s nice to be playing as much as possible, because I love this club and I love playing for them.”
