The future of Mesut Ozil at Arsenal had appeared to be up in the air, with the German yet to commit to the Gunners, and Manchester United keen.
But reports claim that Ozil is set to open talks about an extension to his current deal, worth £140,000 per week.
Ozil has also reportedly been house-hunting in the capital, another sign that he sees his future under Arsene Wenger in the capital.
The place he seemingly has his eye on is a £10m three-storey mansion in Highgate, complete with its own cinema.
A local resident told reporters: “I heard from another neighbour that he’s definitely moving in.
“But he’s been living here for years, and I’ve seen him around.
“Someone told me they do that normally when footballers sign a contract with the club, they go from renting to buying. So it could be good news for Arsenal.
“I am not a football fan but we are used to seeing players around here – it seems to attract them.
“Ozil has got some very nice cars outside his current house – he’s got a Lamborghini and a very flash Mercedes sports car.
“We know the people in the house have sold and have moved out so he should in any day now.
“Ozil is a quiet guy though, I hope. It makes sense for him though the training ground is just down the road.”
Jose Mourinho had been hoping to tempt Ozil into a move north, in a bid to boost United’s flagging season. But it seems that he has been left disappointed once again, with Ozil set to stay.
