The Serie A giants rejected a £34 million bid for Romagnoli from the Blues in the recent transfer window.
Now they are desperate for him to remain at the San Siro for the foreseeable future.
The 21-year-old is expected to sign a new deal in the coming days.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte opted to sign both Marcos Alonso and David Luiz as alternatives to Romagnoli.
