Liverpool are lining up a deal for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, according to reports.

The deal, matching one prepared by Manchester City, would see the stopper double his earnings, from £55,000 per week to £110,000 per week.

German star ter Stegen is currently second choice at the Nou Camp, behind Claudio Bravo, and has mainly been used this season in the Champions League.

He is keen to gain more game time, and is prepared to leave the La Liga giants in order to do so.

He told German news outlet TZ: “I want to take the next step and to play more. So the situation is clear: If nothing changes, we have to talk.”

The Reds are thought to be chasing a replacement for the out-of-sorts Simon Mignolet, who has not had the best of seasons at Anfield.

If he joins, ter Stegen would be the fourth-highest earner at the club, behind Christian Benteke, on £140,000 per week, and the English pair of Daniel Sturridge and James Milner, both on £120,000 per week.
