According to reports, Liverpool are considering a move for Anderlecht’s Dennis Praet.
The news comes after his agent, Jacques Lichtenstein, sparked rumours about his player’s future.
Lichtenstein told Voetbal International: “What can he gain by spending one more season at Anderlecht?
“He has already played for three years and has contributed to three back-to-back league titles.”
Along with the Reds, Italian side Fiorentina were thought to be keen on Praet, 21.
However, Anderlecht’s asking price for the player, set at £22.3m, appears to have put off Fiorentina.
This leaves Liverpool in pole position, with Jurgen Klopp having been watching Praet since a Champions League tie against the Belgian side in 2014, when Klopp was in charge of Borussia Dortmund.
Belgian newspaper HLN claims they could put in a ‘monster’ bid for Praet, an attacking midfielder.
