Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Roma have highlighted the Serbia international as a replacement for Miralem Pjanic, who recently left for Juventus.
Roma manager Luciano Spalletti is apparently prepared to spend £20 million to lure Markovic to the Stadio Olimpico.
The 22-year old spent last season on a season-long loan at Fenerbahce, after falling out of favour at the Reds.
