The 32-year-old played his final game for his country

An emotional Bastian Schweinsteiger said his goodbyes to the Germany fans as he officially retired from international football last night.

The Manchester United playmaker made his final appearance in a 2-0 friendly victory over Finland at Borussia-Park.

Schweinsteiger ends his international career having made 121 appearances, scoring four goals.

The former Bayern Munich ace was also part of the Germany team that won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

“It means so much that you’re here today. It has been an honour to play for you,” Schweinsteiger said to the crowd.

He retires as Germany’s fourth most-capped player ever.
