Barcelona official admits Pedro could be on his way to Manchester United.

The forward is expected to join united for around £20 million.

The official in question, Robert Fernandez, was appointed technical secretary on the same day Angel Di Maria left Old Trafford for Paris.

Louis Van Gaal apparently wants the Spaniard as a replacement for Di Maria, but is not willing to meet the 28-year-olds release clause just yet.

The Barca mans release clause is rumoured to be around £22 million, but United value the benched forward at £17 million.

Fernandez himself admits that the situation is complicated.

“”Pedro? His buyout clause is €30m (£22m),” he said.

“He’s a player that has performed fantastically for Barca. Both the manager and I want him to stay.

“We don’t want to lose him but we know that this is a risky situation and we’ll have to wait. If he goes, we’ll lose a lot of things.”

Pedro has history against United having scored the opening goal in the 2010 Champions League final against United at Wembley. Barca went on to win that match 3-1.

Rumours of Pedro’s arrival have been made larger by United’s recent announcement of squad numbers, and more importantly, the absence of a number nine.
