Kalvin Phillips still remains a priority target for Newcastle United.

The out-of-favour Manchester City midfielder has not started a game this season and would want to seek an exit this January.

Phillips has endured a difficult 15-month campaign since his move from Leeds United in the summer of 2022.

The club is aware that a host of clubs are interested in the English midfielder once the transfer window opens in the winter.

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is a huge admirer of the English midfielder since his days at Leeds United and reportedly wants to sign him on a six-month loan.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe wants to add midfield reinforcements in the wake of Sandro Tonali’s 10-month ban from football.

City has set an asking price of £50million and the club would want to cash in on their flop midfielder in this winter transfer.

The Englishman would be a perfect fit for Eddie Howe as Phillips was known for his ball-winning ability under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United.

The 27-year-old’s lack of minutes at the Etihad has not stopped England manager Gareth Southgate selecting for the international provisional squad.
