Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Southampton midfielder and Kenya national team captain Victor Wanyama.

The two clubs have agreed on an £11m fee for the Kenyan midfielder, although Saints were believed to be holding out for £20m.

Wanyama played under Spurs Mauricio Pochettino at the south coast club, and Pochettino has remained a fan of the player.

Former club Celtic would benefit financially from a sell-on clause if the Saints recouped the full £12m they paid for him in 2013.

Wanyama passed a medical with Spurs earlier today, and he has spoke of his excitement at the move.

“I am indeed elated at passing my medicals at Tottenham. It is a new dawn in my career and I believe I will give my best for my new team,” said Wanyama.

“I want to thank Southampton management and fans for the exceptional time we had together. I will always have a fond place for them in my heart.”

Wanyama signed for Southampton in 2013, and was the first Kenyan to play in the Premier League.

He scored four goals in ninety-two appearances for Southampton.

He is known for his sportsmanship and leadership qualities on the field.
