Atletico hope to agree deals for Pedro and Costa

Atletico Madrid director Andrea Berta has travelled to London in a bid to land Pedro and Diego Costa from Chelsea.

The La Liga outfit are keen to bring Costa back to the Vicente Calderon, while also signing Blues outcast Pedro – having struggled for form in west London.

It is understood Atletico could tempt the club to sell by offering Jackson Martinez, who has struggled for form in the Spanish capital, as part of a swap deal.

Pedro left Barcelona for £21 million this summer, having failed to establish himself as a regular during his time at the Camp Nou. While Costa’s form has picked up since former boss Jose Mourinho left the club and is their top scorer with nine goals.

Chelsea duo will boost squad

With Atletico boss Diego Simeone left frustrated by Martinez, who joined the club from Porto for £28.4 million in the summer, Berta is hoping his arrival in England will allow him to bolster Simeone’s options.

Pedro was subbed in the past two games due to poor performances, and, as of yet, it doesn’t seem as though the Blues would be missing his services much, if he was to leave the club.

It would come as a surprise if Chelsea were to agree on a swap deal without substantial payments also, as Martinez is currently not living up to the fee Atletico paid for him in the summer.

And with Chelsea still just 14th in the league with 25 points, they will need more than Martinez if they were to agree on a swap that would allow troublesome Costa to return to Spain.
