According to reports circulating in the rumour mill, Barcelona are keen on signing Neymar from Paris Saint Germain as the Brazilian is looking to quit the club. However, given their revenue figures, the Catalans might find it hard to land the 27-year-old.

Barcelona have posted an increase in the revenue for the sixth consecutive year, as the figures rose from £815.7m to £883.5m. However, the Catalans saw their operating profit plummeting, as the figures went down from £28.5m to £15.2m. Their net profit also decreased to £4m from £11.6m.

The blockbuster transfers of Antoine Griezmann and Frenkie de Jong are being cited among the major reasons behind the losses. The Spanish giants also failed to win the Champions League and Copa del Rey last season, further weakening their revenues for 2019.

Neymar joined Paris Saint Germain from Barcelona in a world-record £200m deal in 2017. The French side now want full cash for their asset and will reject any player-plus-cash offers for the same. As a result, Barcelona will have to pay close to £199m to sign the forward.

The deal looks almost impossible given the Financial Fairplay Rules the club has to adhere to, in order to avoid further penalties.
