United on red-alert after star stalls new deal talk

Manchester United are on red-alert after Barcelona’s Neymar stalled contract negotiations at the Spanish club.

Barca are reportedly keen to tie Neymar down to a contract that will keep him at club longer than his current deal does, which expires in 2018. They’re even willing to improve his terms based on his performances, but apparently the player is in no rush to make any written agreements.

The report also sheds more light on Manchester United’s interest, insisting enquiries were made in the summer but nothing came to fruition.

Neymar has reportedly told friends he would be open to a move to Old Trafford at some point. Talks are said to have taken place between the two parties and despite United’s apparent interest, the 23-year-old admitted there was no no concrete offer, although it was reported that United were willing to offer a massive £240million to secure his services.

“We had conversations, but there was nothing concrete,” he told ESPN Brasil. “I heard that there were offers, but none made it to me.”
