Could this be a hint that John Stones is on his way?

Everton manager Roberto Martinez wants to try and sign Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, according to reports.

The Toffees are aware that they may lose centre-back John Stones in the near-future, and Martinez is already preparing for that day by searching for an adequate replacement.

According to reports today, Martinez has highlighted Chambers as a potential replacement as the young Englishman continues to sit on the sidelines at Arsenal.

The Gunners signed the versatile star from Southampton for £16million, but he’s yet to break into the first-team with Arsene Wenger still unsure on his best position.

Chambers for Stones?

Chambers can play at right-back, centre-back and even holding-midfield, but he’s failed to break into the starting XI at the Emirates Stadium.

If Everton were to lose Stones, with Manchester United and Chelsea desperate to land him, it’s believed Martinez will try and land Chambers as a replacement.

Both United and Chelsea are being linked with mega-money moves for Stones, with the former willing to part ways with around £50million.
