Marco Silva signed the Portuguese international from Barcelona on a one-year loan spell and so far, Gomes has been a hit at Goodison Park. The 25-year-old has regained his confidence in the middle of the pitch and is starting to excel for the Toffees.
He is yet to register a goal or an assist but his impact on the team is pretty evident to Silva and the Everton faithful. Gomes and Idrissa Gueye are working harmoniously from the deep midfield positions to get the Toffees offensive line going.
While Gomes creates from the central areas, Gueye focuses on the defensive responsibilities. The former has finally regained his form back from his Valencia days.
He was part of the youth overhaul by Barcelona ahead of the 2016/17 season but never could settle himself into the side behind prominent figures such as Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic and Paulinho.
Gomes fell out of the rotation for the Portuguese national side as well, taking no part in the glorious 2018 FIFA World Cup. His switch to Merseyside certainly has gone well so far and Everton should strongly be considering a permanent switch.
