Arsenal’s pursuit of Basel defender Fabian Schar looks to have stalled, after Schar said he would prefer a move to Inter Milan.
The 23 year old is out of contract in the summer, and is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any team outside Switzerland.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with Schar, but the player seems to favour a link up with former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini.
This is what Schar had to say about the speculation regarding his future.
“I’ve read the market rumours, they’re normal at this time,” he said.
“I can say that without a doubt I think Inter are a top club, perfect. That would be an ideal destination.
“However, I have a contract which ties me to Basel and I’m very happy here. At the moment I’m not thinking about anyone else.”
