Colombian on the verge of loan-move

AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao has confirmed he is very close to finalising his loan move to Chelsea.

The Manchester United flop left Old Trafford after a poor campaign, with him scoring four goals in 29 games – mainly as a substitute.

The 29-year-old is on international duty with Colombia at the Copa America and led his country to beat Brazil 1-0 last night.

Chelsea are finalising personal terms with the former River Plate, Porto and Atletico Madrid star and he is expected to cost the Blues £3million for a season-long loan with the Premier League champions having an option to sign him in the next summer transfer window for £35million.

Falcao is confident that the deal with go ahead and has hinted at the deal being officially announced in the coming days.

He said: “It can be, you will know soon.

“I am just thinking of the Copa America and the squad; my staff are taking care of this.” he added.

The striker, who was alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the FIFA FIFPro World XI in 2012, is expected to be a direct replacement for Blues legend Didier Drogba, 37, who was released at the end of last season.
