According to reports, Arsenal pulled out of the race to sign Radamel Falcao on a season-long loan due to the deal being too expensive.

The Gunners were strongly linked with the AS Monaco striker after reports broke that he was on his way out of France, seeking a loan move for the season, with Real Madrid and the two Manchester clubs also interested.

However, this morning, news broke that the Colombian had agreed a deal to join United on a season-long loan.

It’s believed Monaco contacted Arsenal over the weekend and discussed a potential deal, but The Gunners pulled out due to the striker’s wage demands.

It’s thought that Falcao will be on around £300k-a-week at Old Trafford, with the loan deal costing them £6million.

United will announce the deal this evening, with a plane scheduled to arrive in Manchester around 5pm.
