Manchester United had agreed personal terms with Lazio midfielder Felipe Anderson over the summer, according to reports.
The Brazilian was strongly linked with a move away from the Serie A club over the summer, with United the likely destination, and it has now emerged that a deal was in place.
Anderson agreed a contract with the Premier League side worth £3.2million-a-year.
However, the 22-year-old’s proposed move to Old Trafford fell through when the Italian outfit rejected United’s £28million offer.
Despite agreeing a deal with United, Anderson then signed a new deal at Lazio with a release clause worth £56m.
After Lazio played hard-ball with the English outfit, Anderson missed out on a pay-rise as he could have seen himself earn around £60k-a-week at United.
