Moyes, who was recently appointed Sunderland manager after Sam Allardyce’s departure to become England boss, has confirmed that Fellaini is a leading target as he attempts to bring Sunderland more respect next season, after a difficult campaign last season saw them narrowly avoid relegation.
However, instead of a reunion, Fellaini is determined to fight for his place at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho.
The 28-year-old has been a divisive figure among United supporters since arriving at the club in a £27.5m move from Everton in August 2013 as Moyes’s first signing as manager at Old Trafford, though this won’t be the case again for Moyes, as the Belgian midfielder is happy where he is.
