Chelsea woes, Jamie Vardy’s record and a ridiculous 1-0 win

It was another interesting day in the Premier League yesterday with seven games played in total, and it’s now time for SillySeason’s Five Things learnt.

Throughout the day there were some big talking points and SillySeason are ready to give their main highlights from Saturday’s action.

5) How Did Bournemouth Lose?!

Now we ask how did Bournemouth lose, but we already know the answer, Rob Elliot was in stunning form.

It was such a ridiculous match to watch with the home site absolutely dominating the game for the full 90-minutes yet somehow coming away with nothing.

68% possession, 20 shots and 16 corners…..yet no goals for Bournemouth. For Newcastle, well they had 32% possessions, two shots, no corners and one goal.

Yes Newcastle snatched three points with a lone-goal from Ayoze Perez and somehow clung on to the 1-0 win.

Save after save from Elliot left Eddie Howe and his team frustrated and pointless.

You will never watch a more one-sided game when the side dominating has lost.

If you are a Football Manager regular, it was a typical FM game.

4) Jesse Lingard is impressing

He set up the only goal in midweek against CSKA Moscow and he scored the vital opener yesterday against West Bromwich Albion.

Jesse Lingard is really impressing at Old Trafford and as it stands, he’s looking more of a handful than summer signing Memphis Depay.

His pace, ability and overall attacking presence makes him a real menace to the opposition and he was rightfully rewarded with a goal for his fine display yesterday.

Not a bad week at all for the youngster.

3) Times are Tough for Garry Monk

Another week and another defeat for Swansea City.

Pressure is really starting to get to the Swans and it seems like it’s getting to Garry Monk as well.

Since taking over at the Liberty Stadium, it’s been relatively smooth for the former-defender, but his team are currently in real bad form and show no signs of getting out of it.

Just two wins out of their last 10-games and now sitting 14th in the table, just five points from safety.

Monk needs to turn things around and quickly.

2) Chelsea Woes Continue

What more else can be said about Chelsea right now?!

No manager on Saturday and once again, no points.

Stoke City claimed a 1-0 win at the Britannia Stadium and once again it was a poor performance from the Premier League champions.

Their seventh defeat in 12 games keeps them near the wrong end of the table with just 11 points on the board.

If Jose Mourinho does keep his job, he needs to make massive changes and he needs something to happen very quickly.

1) Jamie Vardy

Nine successive Premier League games for Jamie Vardy now.

The man simply cannot stop scoring and cannot put a foot wrong.

Stayed calm and smashed away the penalty against Watford yesterday to ensure a 2-1 win for the Foxes, which also puts them join top with Manchester City and Arsenal for now.

Vardy is in red-hot form and at this minute, it shows no sign of slowing day.

The Leicester striker has now set the record for consecutive games scored in by an English player.

So there are our Five Things learnt.

What are yours?
