Arsenal stay top, Manchester United finally win a game and Aston Villa look doomed

After yet another packed day of Premier League action, it’s time for SillySeason to highlight their Five Things Learnt.

In a day which saw Arsenal remain top, Manchester United pick up their first win since November and Aston Villa all-but confirm their relegation, there is plenty to talk about.

However, what were the main highlights or the main talking points from our eyes?

Here are SillySeason’s Five Things learnt from Saturday’s Premier League action.

5) Jurgen Klopp Has A LOT To Do

Jurgen Klopp’s time at Liverpool has been very strange.

They’ve smashed Chelsea and Manchester City away from home in superb style, but then they’ve lost games they shouldn’t lose in awful style.

Liverpool were battered yesterday by West Ham at Upton Park and quite frankly, they were lucky not to lose by four or five.

West Ham ran them off the pitch and the Reds simply weren’t at the races.

This is still not a Klopp Liverpool side, but it’s become very clear that he has A LOT of work to do at Anfield if he wants to be successful.

4) Relief for Manchester United

It may have been scrappy, but Manchester United have finally won a game.

Their last came way back in November, but yesterday Louis van Gaal’s men scraped past Swansea City at Old Trafford to pick up a vital 2-1 win.

Anthony Martial was back among the goals and so was Wayne Rooney, who scored with a delightful back-heel to give United all three points.

They were inches away from throwing it away at the end, but a Lukasz Fabianski header went just wide.

It wasn’t pretty, but it’s three points and that’s all United need right now.

3) Title-Race Is On

With Arsenal winning and Leicester City dropping points, Manchester City kicked-off in the evening away at Watford knowing a win was a must.

However, their away form has been woeful this season, which gave the Hornets something to be optimistic about.

It was in fact the hosts that took the lead, but with two late goals from Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero, Manuel Pellegrini’s men picked up a vital three points.

As it stands, Arsenal sit on 42 points and are on top of the table, while Leicester are second on 40 and City are in third on 39.

The title-race is well and truly on.

2) Aston Villa Look Doomed

After 20-games, Aston Villa have won just once. Once. That came on the opening weekend as well.

With a game against Sunderland, it was a must win for both sides, but at the end, it was easy for the Black Cats as they picked up a 3-1 victory.

One win, five draws and 14 defeats.

Villa sit bottom on just eight points and are already 11-points from safety.

Championship awaits for the Villains.

1) Arsenal Showed Champions Credentials

They always say if you can win when you don’t deserve to, you’re champions elect.

Arsenal did exactly that as they were woeful against Newcastle United, but a Laurent Koscielny goal in the 72nd minute gave them all three points.

Petr Cech kept the hosts in the game throughout the match and then Koscielny popped up at the other end to seal all three points.

It was a game they’d have been lucky to draw, but to come away with all three points shows they’ve got the mental ability to win the Premier League.

Can this be their year?!

So there are our Five Things Learnt.

What did you think of yesterday’s action?
