Jurgen Klopp picked up his first win at Anfield last night

Liverpool picked up their first win under new management last night thanks to a Nathaniel Clyne first-half strike as they dumped AFC Bournemouth out of the Capital One Cup.

It’s taken Jurgen Klopp four games in charge to pick up his first victory, but last night was the night as Clyne gave the Reds a 1-0 win at Anfield which booked their place in the Quarter Finals.

Draws against Tottenham Hotspur, Rubin Kazan and Southampton had ruined Klopp‘s arrival, but he’s finally off the mark with a win.

Here are SillySeason‘s Five Things learnt from the 1-0 win at Anfield last night.

5) Patience Needed

A lot of football fans want instant success at their club, but in reality, it takes a lot of time to implement something good.

Patience is what’s needed around Anfield if they want to bring back the glory days.

Jurgen Klopp is a brilliant manager, and in time, he will bring success back to Liverpool Football Club, but in the meantime, fans will have to be patient and wait for that day to arrive.

Klopp is still working with Brendan Rodgers‘ squad and what the Northern Irishman left behind, which simply put, isn’t a very strong squad.

Once Klopp has settled and worked his magic, Liverpool will be a force again, but they just need patience.

4) Liverpool’s Kids Looked Great

The Capital One Cup is commonly seen as a competition to blood some future talent, and Jurgen Klopp decided to showcase some of Liverpool‘s youngsters last night.

Connor Randall made his first-team debut for the Reds, while Cameron Brannagan and João Carlos Teixeira also started for Klopp‘s side.

Despite the big occasion for the young lads, they actually looked brilliant and hungry, unlike the Arsenal youngsters that played on Tuesday.

When you are a youngster at a club, you’ve got to make first-team appearances count, and that’s what the Liverpool trio did last night at Anfield.

Ones for the future that’s for sure.

3) Poor Eddie Howe

Eddie Howe and AFC Bournemouth were living the dream just a few months ago, but now they’re in a real life nightmare.

Injuries have really hurt the Cherries and now they have crashed out of the Capital One Cup just days after being thumped at home by Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Several long-term injuries have really hit the already-small squad, and relegation looks certain for Howe‘s men.

Football is a cruel game sometimes.

2) Jurgen Klopp Could Lift Silverware in Debut Season

Now it’s only the Capital One Cup, but Jurgen Klopp could actually lift silverware this season.

With Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal all crashing out, Liverpool have a great chance of lifting the trophy come the New Year.

Brendan Rodgers couldn’t lift a single trophy in his three years at Anfield, but there is a strong chance that Klopp could do it in his debut year.

Southampton away in the next round is a very tough game though, but if they win there, they will really fancy their chances.

1) Capital One Cup Final Eight

The Final Eight.

Everton, Hull City, Stoke City, Sheffield Wednesday, Liverpool, Manchester City, Middlesbrough and Southampton.

Manuel Pellegrini‘s men will be deemed massive favourites, but in the cup, anything can happen.

Middlesbrough are at home in the Quarters, so they might fancy their chances of progressing to the Semi-Finals, while Stoke host Championship side Wednesday.

City have the favourable tie of Hull City at home, with Liverpool travelling to Saints.

So there are Five Things learnt from Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Bournemouth.
