Former Barcelona president Joan Laporta has rejected reports in Spain that have claimed Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho could be on his way to the Nou Camp, replacing Luis Enrique.
The reports suggested that Laporta, who could be elected back as president in 2016, held talks with Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes regarding a shock move to Barcelona.
In an interview with Spanish newspaper L’Esportiu, Laporta insisted that he did not discuss about Mourinho in his meeting with the Portuguese’s representative.
He said: “My style of coaching is with the [Johan] Cruyff philosophy.
“Mourinho is a great professional and I respect him, but I did not mention him with Jorge Mendes, a person with whom I have a good friendship for many years.
“From time to time, we talk about things.”
