Galatasaray president Unal Aysal has confirmed the clubs interest in the loan signing of Arsenal striker Joel Campbell, live on Turkish Television.

Campbell has been a target of several during the last few weeks, following a superb World Cup finals with Costa Rica, as the Central American nation reached the World Cup Quarter Finals.

The player is now back at Arsenal following a Work permit hearing, after a successful loan spell with Greek side Olympiakos last season, where he netted 12 goals.

Galatasaray are keen on bringing Campbell in as a short term replacement for Didier Drogba, who departed the club and signed for Chelsea on a free transfer last week.

And the clubs president has now stated that the Turkish club are keen to take him to Istanbul.

“He [Campbell] is a young, dynamic footballer who has a lot of potential,” Aysal told Lig TV.

“He is would add a lot to the team.

“We need to sort out our foreign player situation but we will try to do everything in our power to make this transfer happen.”

Galatasaray are guaranteed a spot in the group stages of the Champions League despite being runners up in the Turkish Superliga, however following Fenerbache’s ban from the competition for match fixing, Gala have been awareded the spot.
