Chelsea boss not confident striker will be beneficial

Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has blocked the club’s proposed move for Alexandre Pato, according to reports.

The Blues were expected to sign the Brazilian striker before today’s Arsenal game, with some reports claiming Chelsea players thought they had a new team-mate.

However, the reports have gone quiet over the past few days, and it’s now emerged that Hiddink blocked the proposed transfer.

Hiddink Says No

Chelsea and Corinthians had agreed to a £7million transfer fee, but with the interim-manager having the final say, he blocked the deal.

It’s believed Hiddink doesn’t think Pato will strengthen the side and doesn’t believe he has what it takes to make a major difference in the Premier League and the Champions League.

It’s been a quiet month so far for the Blues, with no new faces coming in, and with the Pato proposed deal all-but cancelled, it looks like Stamford Bridge will be welcoming no new players at all this window.
