Gerard Houllier has proclaimed that he thinks Liverpool can win the Premier League this season.
The Frenchman has formerly been in charge at Anfield and was replaced by Rafa Benitez, who went on to lead the club to their famous victory in Istanbul in the Champions League.
However, neither manager manged to take the Reds to the Premier League title but Houllier believes Jurgen Klopp can be the first man to win the league with them.
Speaking about Liverpool, he said at Soccerex: “You only have to see with the number of goals they score, they have a new philosophy and I really like the coach.
“The best is yet to come. They are definitely good enough [to win the title].”
Liverpool have got off to a flying start this year and show no signs of slowing down. They’ve already beaten other title contenders in Arsenal and Chelsea, while drawing with Spurs, who finished second last year.
Only Man City and Tottenham have more points than them so far this season and the Reds first game against Man City on December 31st is sure to be a fiery affair that could help decide where the title goes.
