Another midfielder could be on his way to North London

Sevilla’s Vicente Iborra has admitted he doesn’t want his teammate Grzegorz Krychowiak to leave La Liga for the Premier League.

Arsenal are strongly linked with the Polish international, but the Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger remains adamant he is NOT interested in signing a holding midfielder.

Despite these comments, it is now public knowledge that there were Arsenal scouts attending the UEFA Super Cup clash between Sevilla and Barcelona.

It is more than likely that they were keeping a close eye on Krychowiak’s performance, due to the reported revelation that he has a £22 million release clause in his current contract.

‘Of course I am concerned’

When speaking to Spanish media outlet Estadio Deportivo, Iborra said: “Of course I am concerned that Krychowiak could be taken away, I always want to have the best players in the team.”

He also added: “He brings so much. I hope he stays. I understand Sevilla’s position, it is clear, and I hope nobody pays that clause and he stays with us.”

Krychowiak made 32 La Liga appearances for Sevilla last season after joining from Reims in 2014 for a fee of €3.5 million.

He also helped Sevilla retain the Europa League title in his first and possibly his only campaign at the club.
