Italian giants Inter Milan are interested in signing Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen after the Belgium has fallen down the pecking order in recent months.

The centre-back was dropped at the end of last season after the club’s North London Derby defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, and since being dropped, Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker have developed a superb partnership at the back and that has left Vermaelen on the bench, struggling to make appearances.

In fact, he has only made one Premier League appearance so far this season, but still remains as the club-captain.

It is believed that the defender may be interested in a move away from the Emirates Stadium, so that he can play regularly and improve his chances of getting into the Belgium squad for next year’s World Cup in Brazil.

Reports are suggesting that Milan are willing to offer £8million for Vermaelen, but may even go up to £10million if they need too.
