Manchester City eye Jack Wilshere

Jack Wilshere could be set for a move to Manchester City this summer, as James Milner’s preference is that of a move to Arsenal, according to reports.

Milner has been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks, but would prefer a move to North London, than that of Anfield, with Manchester City yet to offer the England-international a new contract.

The 29-year-old has been played in more of a central-midfielder role for the title holders this season, with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger keen to add more strength to his midfield position.

Wenger rates Milner very-highly, and a potential move could see Jack Wilshere move the other way, in a swap deal between the two players.

Wilshere, aged 24, has struggled through injuries in recent seasons’ and the Gunners may cash in on the England midfielder, with Manchester City holding a firm interest.

Arsene Wenger recently commented on speculation by stating:

“We are not in a position any more where we have to sell our best players. When we had the period of restricted finances we had to sell the players when they started to perform, from 18 to 23. But not now.

“We have only long contacts with 90 per cent of our players. So I don’t know what Manchester City is doing and I don’t really care.”
