Mikel, who has now made the move to Chinese outfit Tianjin Teda, was full of praise for his former Chelsea team-mates.
Here is who the Nigeria international chose in his five-a-side team:
“I have played with him a long time and I know so many times that he has earned us three points. All of the trophies that we have won together, he was such a good goalkeeper for Chelsea and now doing very well for Arsenal.”
“The Chelsea through and through legend John Terry. Every time I stepped on the pitch and looked at my back and see John I know the defence is going to be solid. He wants to win, if he loses a game in training he doesn’t speak to you for two days.”
“Frank Lampard has to be in my team as well. If it was my job to do something and I didn’t do it he screamed at me, if it is his job I have to scream at him. But at the end of the day we came out victorious and we all shake hands, hug each other, go home and have a drink.
“Frank as well at any point in the game he will pop us and get you a goal.”
“We used to call him ‘engine’ and he never gets pushed over. Sometimes you think you are strong, but I don’t think you realise how strong Michael is until you go body to body with him in training. The winning mentality that he has as well has made him a legend for Chelsea and Ghana.”
“I am very honoured and pleased to have played with him. A great character in the dressing room as well. A lot of personality. He trains really well, he wants to win and has the winning mentality as well. His scoring record speaks for itself.”
