Chelsea have been dealt a transfer blow with the news that John Ruddy wants to remain at Norwich City for the upcoming season.
The Canaries won promotion back to the Premier League on Monday after beating Middlesbrough in the Play-off Final at Wembley, securing their return to top-flight football after just one year away.
The Blues were lining up a shock Summer bid for the 28-year-old with fears that Petr Cech will be leaving the club in order to play regular first-team football after being replaced by Thibaut Courtois at the beginning of this season.
Chelsea have lined up Ruddy and Rob Green from Queens Park Rangers as potential number-twos, but the former has already moved out any possibility of a move.
“Back in the Premier League is where you want to be.”
Chelsea tried to lure Ruddy to The Bridge back in 2013 when they made a £5million offer for him to become Cech’s back-up, but the club rejected the offer and wanted substantially more.
